Ilya Orlov (also known as LetiMix on YouTube) has published a great video on his YouTube channel where he explains how he streams audio on top of a YouTube video using OBS for the video.
LetiMix Streaming Demo
Setup
Software used :
- DAW: CuBase (steinberg.net/cubase)
- Video Streaming: OBS (obsproject.com)
- To send the output mix from CuBase to OBS: Fader Hub or Connector
- To process the audio from the browser: GingerAudio Room (gingeraudio.com/groundcontrol-room/)
- To reduce the drum level in the original YouTube video sound: Izotope Ozone (izotope.com/en/products/ozone.html)
- To apply an audio plugin to the original YouTube video sound: PatchWork (Product Page)
- To send the processed YouTube audio to Cubase: Connector
Conclusion
This clever setup allows to reroute the audio needed to be able to play on to of an existing audio track. In Ilya’s example it is a YouTube video but it would be strictly the same for another music playing app like Spotify, Quicktime or something like that.
So next time you need to stream multiple audio sources to OBS a stereo mix using your DAW, you know how to do it using this setup.
