The Andrew Scheps’ “Blue Cat” Dry/Wet Technique

Andrew Scheps is famous for his parallel processing techniques, often linked to heavy compression and loudness increase, as shown with Metallica’s Death Magnetic incredibly loud album, and its seems he now has a specific workflow using Blue Cat’s PatchWork, as you can see in the video below.

“Now I am going to crush the crap out of the drums… And now we can blend this in!” – Andrew Scheps (Metallica, Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones…)

This is a pretty good summary of what Andrew Scheps’ dry/wet blend technique is all about: compress heavily and use PatchWork’s mix knob to blend it back with the original dry signal.

Andrew and I first met at the NAMM Show back in 2015 and he has been a customer for a long time. Check out his work at puremix if you want to learn more from him!
